About Me

  •             All About Me

I grew up in North Carolina and have lived in Pennsylvania for my entire adult life.  I live in Schnecksville with my husband John and our two children Ethan and Madeline.  I knew I wanted to be a teacher even as a child. I am living my life's dream!  I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Methodist University in North Carolina where I also received my certification as a Reading Specialist.  I later received my Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University.   I taught in the Bangor Area School district for 6 years as a reading specialist and a fifth grade teacher.  I then began teaching at Weisenberg Elementary.

I have taught at Weisenberg for ten years. Teaching third grade at Weisenberg is amazing!  I love the community spirit and families at Weisenberg and feel blessed that my own children attended here.  These children truly make my heart sing!.  I believe that a teacher's highest calling is to show  "the wonder of the world" through learning .  I enjoy doing this as a teacher.  I just completed a one year educational sabbatical where I earned a Writing and Literacy specialist certificate through my graduate studies at Penn State. I learned so much about writing, reading and technology. I am excited to apply my new knowledge in our third grade classroom this school year.

Outside of school,  I enjoy reading, traveling, playing tennis and  completing volunteer work.  This year,  I began to take harp lessons and love playing for family and friends.  Perhaps I will play for my students this school year.  I think it is important to always grow and learn. I practice this daily in my personal and professional life and hope to inspire my students to do the same.
