Meet Miss Mizak

  • Meet Miss Mizak

Hi!  My name is Nicole Mizak.  I graduated from Bloomsburg University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education in May of 2000.   I also earned a master's degree in reading from Kutztown University in December of 2006.  I have been working in the Northwestern Lehigh School District for the last 15 years.  I began my career in 2001 as a long term substitute for the gifted support program (K-4) in both elementary buildings.  Then, in 2002 I was hired to teach Kindergarten at Northwestern Elementary for three years.  I continued my teaching career at NWE for the next six years in second grade.  I am now entering my sixth year of teaching 3rd grade at Weisenberg Elementary.

    My Background & Interests

I grew up in a small rural town just outside of Jim Thorpe called Summit Hill.  It is located in the coal region and has a very small population.  I have a younger sister named Jennifer who graduated from Penn State University.  We are major Penn State fans!  I also have two nieces named Gianna and Myla and a nephew named Gabriel .  Gianna is the oldest and Myla and Gabriel are twins.

When I am not at school, I enjoy working out, golfing, skiing, playing volleyball, reading, volunteering with the Junior League and spending time with my family and friends.  Beyond playing sports, I also enjoy watching them too!  My favorite NFL team is the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Their colors are black and and gold just like Weisenberg Elementary's school colors.  I try to attend at least 1 game a year.  Pittsburgh is my favorite place to visit!

Well, I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about me and what I like to do for fun!  Come back and visit my home page often for information on our classroom and curriculum.

In Pittsburgh at Heinz Field cheering on my Steelers!
