Ten myths about joining P.I.E.

  • Ten myths about joining Partners in Education (P.I.E.)

#1: Only moms and teachers need to join P.I.E.
A strong parent/teacher organization needs the support of parents, family members, teachers, school staff, and community members. Anyone who cares about children should be involved in P.I.E.

#2: Joining P.I.E. means that I have to volunteer.
P.I.E. appreciates all of our volunteers whether they are able to come to school and volunteer OR donate food or needed items. You will not be sucked into a black hole of volunteering.

#3: I have to be a board member or a chair a committee to be a part of P.I.E.
You do not need to be a board member or chair a committee to be a part of P.I.E.. We appreciate any support you can give.

#4: I need to pay a membership fee to join P.I.E.
Unlike other parent/teacher organizations P.I.E. has no membership fee. It is completely free. Sign up for our emails and reminders and opt out on your own accord, whenever you like.

    #5: I don't have time to join P.I.E.
If you you are unable to volunteer your time, please consider joining P.I.E. and give your financial support. You will gain the satisfaction knowing that your support helps fund activities and events for children throughout the school year.

    #6: I'll get roped into volunteering if I attend a P.I.E. meeting.
There will be various opportunities to get involved. If you are not able volunteer there is NO PRESSURE and NO JUDGEMENT. Come to a meeting and see what events are coming up and offer any suggestions or ideas.

#7: P.I.E. is only for stay at home moms with nothing else to do.
While there are members who are stay at home moms, there are many family and community members who want to support our children and school. Most volunteers are juggling schedules, chores, homework, etc. just like you.

#8: My child's life will be the same whether or not I join P.I.E.
Not only does becoming involved with P.I.E. put you in direct communication with other parents and teachers. It shows your child you are invested and involved in their educational experience. You become a "piece pf the PIE" that helps our school.

#9:  P.I.E. has all the help they need.
P.I.E. always wants and needs volunteers! If you choose to volunteer, YOU determine your level of commitment.

    #10: I have an idea, but P.I.E. isn't interested.
We welcome new ideas and fresh perspectives. PLEASE join us and give us your thoughts and ideas. It helps keep things new and exciting!
