Transportation Opt-Out

The district has implemented two programs to help alleviate pressures created by the national school bus driver shortage.

High School Parking Pass Opt-Out

Any student who is approved for a high school parking permit will automatically be removed from their bus route. Please know that if you wish to have your student-driver continue to have a bus route in place, we will gladly do so. We ask that you complete the Student Transportation Change Request Form to let us know.  

Parent Transportation Opt-Out

This program focuses on families who drive their children to school daily. If you are someone who transports their child(ren) back and forth to school every day, please consider opting your child(ren) out of transportation. If you would like to opt out of transportation for the 2024-25 school year, please complete the Transportation Opt-Out Form. 

Important:

  • Transportation opt-outs will be accepted until September 8th.
  • The opt-out will take effect immediately upon submission of the Transportation Opt-Out Form.
  • Your child’s transportation information may continue to appear in the Sapphire Community Portal until all final adjustments have been made.
  • If you opted out of transportation for the 2023-24 school year, you do not need to complete this form. You will automatically be opted out for the 2024-2025 school. If you wish to re-enroll in transportation services, please complete the Student Transportation Change Request form.

It is important to note that completing the Transportation Opt-Out Form will remove NWLSD Transportation for your child(ren) for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year, and you will be responsible for transporting your child.

We understand that situations change with time; therefore, if you enroll, please know you may request your child to be reinstated on NWLSD transportation services anytime. Transportation reinstatement requests can be submitted using the Student Transportation Change Request Form. Please allow three business days for the reinstated request to be completed. 

If you know of anyone who would be interested in driving a bus or van, please strongly encourage them to apply at www.nwlehighsd.org/jobs.
